For this roof repair project, the JDF Roofing team were called in to address issues at the eaves and along the hip line of the roof, where wear and movement had begun to compromise weather protection. Following a full inspection, we identified that the existing eaves felt had deteriorated and several hip tiles had become loose.
To resolve the issue, we installed a new eaves course of breathable membrane felt. This modern material allows moisture to escape from within the roof space while preventing rainwater from entering, helping to improve ventilation and reduce the risk of damp or condensation. Correctly installed eaves felt is essential for directing water safely into the guttering system and protecting the roof structure below.
In addition, we re-bedded the lower three hip tiles, removing the old mortar and resetting the tiles securely using fresh bedding. This restored stability to the hip line and ensured the tiles were properly sealed and aligned.
The completed repair has significantly improved the roof’s resistance to the elements and extended its lifespan. This project highlights the importance of timely maintenance and professional repairs in preventing more serious and costly roofing issues.
